Our professional care workers offer a dementia-specific day care service in a warm, welcoming environment giving true specialist care to people with dementia.
The Society provides specialist day care to people with dementia throughout Ireland. The focus of the centre is the provision of care in an environment where people with dementia feel comfortable and are stimulated and where we work to meet their individual needs as far as possible.
An important feature of the service is that it provides activities outside the home, giving stimulation and care to the person and a break for the primary carer. Depending on their wishes and abilities, we offer the person with dementia a wide range of activities at our day care centres including reminiscence therapy, music sessions, gentle exercises, arts and crafts and personal care. The day includes a hot lunch and many of our centres provide transport to and from the service.
How to access the Service:
Contact the day care centre nearest to you to discuss your needs. In each case a referral form will be made available and this marks the beginning of an assessment process to determine if the service meets the needs of the person with dementia. The referral form requires confirmation from a GP or consultant that a diagnosis of a form of dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease, has been made.
