Campaigning is an important function of The Society and it has been crucial in increasing funding for dementia services and improving the lives of people living with dementia, their carers and families.
Campaigning also helps in overcoming stigma and creating greater understanding of the impact of dementia on the person, their family and the community.
Campaigning and lobbying at local, national and European level is critical to ensure that the rights of everyone affected by dementia are recognised and upheld; that their needs are appropriately met irrespective of age, social, economic or geographic factors; and that appropriate supports and services are available to those who wish to live indepently in their communities for as long as possible.
