The Cuba Cycle Challenge 2010 is a fully supported point-to-point road tour cycle challenge in the western province of Pinar del Río. The total cycling distance is 322km over 5-cycling days. The average distance per cycling day is 65km and the longest day is 79km. The route is classified as challenging. The terrain ranges from undulating to hilly with several steep and demanding climbs and downhill descents. Each day is on-road and although many roads are in fair condition you should expect lots of potholes and poor surface conditions on some sections. There are several sections with severely eroded road surfaces on cycle days 1 and 5. The roads are tarmac and generally free of heavy traffic. It is suitable for fit and confident riders. Cuba has a hot semi-tropical climate. May falls at the end of the dry season with average temperatures in Havana of 27ºC and, on average, 7 days per month with rainfall. Mid-day temperatures can reach above 30ºC.
