Election 2007 Campaign

With a general election in May 2007, The Society lobbied all parties and all candidates for recognition of Dementia as a National Health Priority and for the accelerated implementation of the Dementia Manifesto 2007-2009. A parallel strategy of lobbying at constituency and national level was implemented.

Client families, friends, volunteers and staff of the Society with the help of other stakeholders and healthcare professionals in the area of dementia care made their voices heard on the doorstep with the aid of the Dementia Manifesto and a specially designed Doorstep Prompt Card asking pointed questions of canvassers and candidates. The initiative proved to be effective at constituency level and helped raise the needs of voters affected by Alzheimer's disease / dementia.

The Society would like to thank everyone who assisted in campaigning during Election 2007. We look forward to your ongoing support. Together we will be heard!
