The Alzheimer Society is calling on all its supporters to let their fingers do the voting as their mystery celebrity contestant takes to the stage to compete in this year's Charity You're A Star on RTE shortly.
Excitement is growing about which well known personality will be taking to the stage to raise much needed funds and public awareness about the impact of Alzheimer's disease / dementia and all will be revealed at 8pm on Saturday 28th July at the opening show when voting will commence.
Speaking at the launch Maurice O'Connell Chief Executive says: "We're delighted that our mystery celebrity has chosen to support the Alzheimer Society and the work we do. Currently we must raise 30 cent in every €1 we spend providing services. With a minimum of 40 cent per text vote of support coming to us, every vote received will make a HUGE difference. So please, remember, tune in to the show, vote for our celeb and vote often!"
The Society plan to use the monies raised through Charity You're A Star to provide services to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
