Strategic Priorities
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland's Strategic Plan 2005-2008 identifies three strategic priorities and each priority gives rise to a series of strategic objectives.
Strategic Priority One: To provide services to meet the needs of people with Alzheimer's disease / dementia and their carers and families.
Strategic Objectives
- Continue to develop our range of services and promote new and innovative models of care;
- Develop mechanisms to carry out assessment and care planning for people with Alzheimer’s disease/dementia and develop ways to evaluate the effectiveness of our services;
- Develop standards for quality provision of services.
Strategic Priority Two: To invest in the organisation's human capital.
Strategic objectives
- Support a positive work environment by actively promoting the health, safety and well-being of staff and volunteers;
- On-going development of best practice models to engage, support, train and retain volunteers and staff.
Strategic Priority Three: To provide information, create awareness and address stigma.
Strategic objectives
- Engage in political lobbying to make dementia care a priority in resource allocation from the state;
- Devise effective ways to meet the information, communication and research needs of the Society;
- Create a policy to deal with the use of images, language, perceptions and stigma associated with dementia.
