Hearing the words dementia or Alzheimer's can come as a great shock, even when it is expected.

You may feel a range of emotions including fear, anger and sadness. You may also feel relieved to know the reasons for the changes you or your loved one have been experiencing and feel you can start to take control and make plans.

With the right support many people with dementia lead active and fulfilling lives.

Be positive and focus on the things you and your loved one can still do.
